Probate

Probate is the process utilized to transfer ownership of property and assets after an individual deceases.  Whether an estate needs to be probated depends on several factors, such as, whether the deceased died leaving a valid Last Will and Testament (therefore, the deceased is considered to have died “testate”) or did not leave a Last Will (therefore, the deceased is “intestate”).  There are many different probate law options available, and they are each fact-specific.
